The Fireboy-Xintex Optical Smoke Detector with Base is designed as a general-purpose early-warning detector for a wide range of fire conditions. Its optical sensing method is particularly useful for smoldering fires and escape-route applications. The detector is also engineered to reduce nuisance alarms caused by short-lived smoke or other transient conditions.
The sensing chamber uses the light-scatter principle and measures both back-scattered and forward-scattered light. This optical arrangement helps the detector respond to black as well as white smoke while covering a broad spectrum of fire types. Internal algorithms add confirmation before the detector changes to the alarm state, improving stability and reducing false alarms from non-fire sources.
The detector operates on a polarity-sensitive two-wire supply and powers up in less than 20 seconds. It samples for smoke once every four seconds and includes a 360-degree integral alarm indicator with a one-second reset time. The rated operating and storage range is -40°C to 70°C, with humidity tolerance up to 98% RH where condensation or icing is not present.
- Optical light-scatter sensing chamber
- Responds to both black and white smoke
- Compensates for slow changes in sensitivity
- Uses extra smoke confirmation before alarm
- Designed to reduce nuisance alarms from transient sources
