The Garmin Edge Explore 3 is a GPS bike computer for touring, commuting and recreational riding, with a 3-inch, 360 x 640-pixel color touchscreen, preloaded cycling maps and 32 GB of internal storage. It comes in two models: the Edge Explore 3 runs up to 16 hours in demanding use, while the Edge Explore 3 Plus adds a built-in speaker and microphone for hands-free voice control and spoken prompts, plus Wi-Fi, and runs up to 14 hours in demanding use. Both reach up to 48 hours in battery save mode.
Navigation covers turn-by-turn guidance on Cycle Map and TopoActive cycling maps, Free Flow Routing for routes with fewer stops, A-to-B and round-trip route options, Up Ahead points of interest and eBike smart range routing that accounts for battery status, assist level and the planned course. Garmin Link connects a compatible Garmin smartwatch automatically so wrist-based heart rate shows on the computer, and Garmin Cycling Coach plans provide guided workouts for newer riders.
With a paired smartphone, both models support LiveTrack location sharing, incident detection for on- and off-road incidents, GroupRide, road hazard alerts and weather radar overlays. They pair with Varia radar and lights, power meters and smart trainers, and carry an IPX7 water rating.
