The Garmin Forerunner 70 GPS running smartwatch is Garmin’s most affordable AMOLED running watch ever — and the biggest generational leap the brand has made at the entry level. Packed with training tools that previously cost twice as much, the Forerunner 70 goes head-to-head with the Coros Pace 4, Suunto Run, and Polar Pacer Pro, matching or beating them on battery life, sport profiles, and training intelligence.
Built for new runners and everyday fitness enthusiasts, the Forerunner 70 delivers a bright 1.2″ AMOLED touchscreen alongside Garmin’s classic 5-button layout — responsive swipe navigation for menus, reliable button control during sweaty runs. At just 40g, it sits comfortably on the wrist all day. The Elevate Gen 4 optical heart rate sensor tracks your pulse 24/7 alongside Pulse Ox, HRV Status, stress, and respiration. Battery life reaches up to 13 days in smartwatch mode and up to 23 hours with GPS — longer than every other current Forerunner model.
Where the Forerunner 70 surprises is in its training depth. Training Readiness and Training Status tell you how ready your body is and whether your current load is making you fitter. Quick Workouts generates on-device structured sessions by intensity and duration in seconds. Garmin Coach adaptive plans, Daily Suggested Workouts with run/walk options, wrist-based Running Power, Running Dynamics, and PacePro pacing strategies round out a suite that reviewers from DC Rainmaker and Tom’s Guide have praised as punching well above its price — with Tom’s Guide naming it their favorite running watch for the money in 2026.
Available in six colors: Black, Whitestone, Citron, Cool Lavender, Soft Pink, and Tidal Blue. Perfect for: new runners, everyday fitness enthusiasts, Forerunner 55 owners ready for AMOLED, and runners upgrading from Apple Watch or Fitbit to a dedicated GPS watch.
