The Mikov Fish Folder has a 2-inch stainless clip blade, a bronze alloy handle cast in the shape of a fish and a lanyard hole, closing to 3 inches.
Mikov has worked in the Czech Republic since 1794, and figural pocketknives like this belong to a Central European tradition of small decorated folders sold as souvenirs and gifts. Bronze is heavier than the steel or aluminum usually used at this size, and it develops a patina with handling that darkens the raised detail and leaves the high points bright.
At 3 inches closed this is a keyring knife, sized for envelopes, tape and light cutting rather than work. The lanyard hole is set at the tail, where a cord looks like part of the shape rather than an addition. Explore more Traditional Knives.
