Redwood Trees
- California Redwoods (Sequoia sempervirens) are nature’s skyscrapers.
- These enormous trees exist primarily in Northern California.
- Redwoods get their common name from their bark and heartwood, a reddish-brown color which stems from high tannin levels.
- Their thick bark holds large quantities of water, which helps to protects them from periodic, naturally occurring fires.
- They reach mesmerizing heights of around 350 feet.
- With a truly distinctive appearance, these ancient trees are among the most fascinating and unique trees in all the world.
